Northern Irish politicians in talks at St Andrews

A group of people, uncertain of the future, decide to spend some contemplative time at a beautiful, almost mythic, seaside setting. Time passes, then they must leave, transformed by the experience yet still the same, increased with fresh knowledge yet still uncertain as to what their now-intertwined futures will hold...

I've considered Northern Irish politicians to be many things, but never before have I thought of them as potential St Andrews University arts students.

North Korea is a lesbian

Blink and you'll miss it: because anyone can edit online encyclopedia Wikipedia, articles are open to being vandalized. But because so many 'benign' eyes are reading Wikipedia all the time, vandalism and mistakes are almost always quickly corrected. So I was privileged to catch sight of some random Wiki-vandalism this morning, when in the first line of the entry on North Korea read: "The minae is a lesbian (DPRK) more commonly known as North Korea..." I took a screenshot, above to preserve this all-too-brief, tenuous Internet moment, like the first swallow of spring, the flower of grass, a noiseless flash on the horizon...

A Noiseless Flash

'0900 Through Protective Goggles on the USS Appalachian,' watercolor by Grant Powers of nuclear bomb test at Bikini Atoll, 1946. Held by the U.S. Department of the Navy.

So, the North Koreans have a nuke and they tested it in October. I know people have said Karl Rove is good, but never did I think he was good enough to pull off this sort of October Surprise!
