Today is Bloomsday

"Mr Bloom ate his strips of sandwich, fresh clean bread, with relish of disgust pungent mustard, the feety savour of green cheese. Sips of his wine soothed his palate. Not logwood that. Tastes fuller this weather with the chill off."

Bye-bye brewery

The McEwan's Brewery, right in the middle of this photo, is being slowly but surely demolished today by a wrecking company with two large cranes. So it's farewell to this long-lived Edinburgh landmark. Once it's gone, there will be temporarily an even better view of the River Forth and the Kingdom of Fife, but a new housing development is to be built and the view could be shut off. Unfortunately the quality of this photo is poor and I left my camera battery charger in Galway, so I can't take any shots of today's hot demolition action.
